Jumpstart your summer at the Conservancy’s largest annual fundraiser, Shimmer on the River. Hosted at Robert C. Valade Park on Monday, June 10, this unforgettable evening will be filled with all-ages fun, featuring live musical entertainment, a Riverfront Boardwalk lined with summer activities, a family-friendly Adventure Park, a Kids Dance Party on Valade Beach, delicious food and refreshments, and more!
We are proud to announce our 2024 Shimmer Award honorees are Vivian Day and John Stroh alongside Robert Davis. Vivian and John have championed the development of the Detroit Riverfront for decades, from John Stroh’s role as a founding board member of the Conservancy, to their very significant donation and naming of Christopher Stroh Plaza in 2023. Robert Davis has played a pivotal role in the Detroit Riverfront revitalization as a founding Conservancy board member and during his tenure as a leader in the Michigan Department of Transportation, where he worked on Milliken State Park and Harbor, Mt. Elliott Park, Robert C. Valade Park, and the riverwalk connection across the Uniroyal factory site.

The Conservancy is partnering with A Kid Again to bring guests from their family network for Shimmer on the River. A Kid Again provides Hope, Happiness and Healing to children with life threatening conditions and their families by providing ongoing adventures where families can take a timeout from illness and meet others who are going through similar situations.
