On May 21, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy hosted its first community meeting since Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates were announced as the winning firm in the West Riverfront Park Design Competition. More than 200 Detroiters packed the gymnasium at the Roberto Clemente Recreation Center in southwest Detroit to learn about the project from Conservancy leadership and from Michael Van Valkenburgh. Members from the Conservancy’s Community Advisory Team (CAT) were also in attendance to talk about their trips from the summer of 2017 and to share their thoughts on the project.  Additionally, everyone in attendance were given the opportunity to ask questions and to share their visions for the new West Riverfront Park.
