The half-mile extension of the Dequindre Cut will provide an even more convenient connection between the riverfront and Eastern Market and better link the popular path to other greenways being developed throughout the city when it opens in late fall.
Following site clearing and demolition last year, installation of new electrical, cable, telephone and power are scheduled for installation in early spring. Bridges at Adelaide and Division Streets have been demolished, and steel support beams are currently being installed for reconstruction of the new bridges. Demolition of the bridges at Wilkins and Alfred Streets will occur this summer.
Once construction is complete, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the entire two miles of the Dequindre Cut.
