Detroit RiverFront Conservancy President & CEO Faye Nelson to leave Conservancy
Sunday, January 12, 2014
Dear Detroit RiverFront Conservancy Friends and Supporters,
On behalf of the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy Board of Directors, I would like to share with you the news that after more than a decade as the President & CEO of the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Faye Alexander Nelson will leave us to take on a senior leadership role at DTE Energy effective January 31, 2014.
The Conservancy Board of Directors and staff are incredibly appreciative of Faye’s leadership in the creation of the beautiful RiverWalk. Where cement silos and blighted buildings once stood we now have greenways, plazas, parks, butterfly gardens and a carousel. All of it is available for our entire community to enjoy.
The Detroit riverfront has become firmly rooted as a beloved community asset and is a world-class destination that draws more than three million visitors a year. Over the last decade, more than $1 billion in public and private investment has taken place on or along the riverfront.
Faye has been in the forefront of the public-private partnership that has made all of this possible. She has created a strong foundation for us to build upon and will be missed by all those who care about the riverfront.
Sincerely,
Matt Cullen
Chair, Detroit RiverFront Conservancy Board of Directors
