Frequently asked questions:
Where do I park?
Free parking is available in the lot across the street from the park at Chene and Guoin (enter on Guoin). Additional parking is available on nearby streets and lots. Please follow all posted parking direction signage and pay any posted fees (note that the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater lot at Atwater and Chene is open for parking but requires payment).
What if it rains?
In addition to the variety of outdoor seating, Valade Park has a fully enclosed building space that's open no matter the weather. You can get all of the perks of being on the riverfront, without any worry about the weather! For those wanting to sit outside, we have tables with umbrellas as well as picnic tables and adirondak chairs in shaded areas of the park.
Can I bring my team down?
Yes - and we encourage it! Work from the Park is the perfect way to meet up in person and promote team engagement. Might we suggest adding a Riverfront walk to your team's calendar for the day, or taking walking meetings? If you'd rather stay within the park, plan to order lunch from our on-site cafe, or log off and join in on happy hour at the bar starting at 4 p.m.
Can I reserve a space?
All seating at Valade Park is first-come, first-serve, but don't worry - there is plenty of seating for everyone, including on Bob's Barge and in the picnic area near the water. If you're planning to bring a large group down, email info@detroitriverfront.org to give us a heads up.
Can I charge my laptop?
Yes, power outlets and extension cords are provided throughout the park. For the most flexibility, we recommend charging up your devices before arriving.
How's the WiFi?
Great! The public WiFi at Valade Park has been tested on everything from emails to zoom calls without any trouble.
Do I need to stay all day?
Not at all! Pop in whenever works for you, whether that's an hour or the entire day. No registration required!
What's there to eat?
Cafe at Valade features coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch entrees from Smokey G's BBQ. Don't miss the freshly squeezed lemonade! Plus a full bar for Happy Hour, featuring local brews and riverfront inspired cocktails.
What else can I expect?
Each month's Work from the Park features themed activities ranging from workshops to partner tables. Come back here for updates on each month's unique elements, and email info@detroitriverfront.org if you'd like to partner with us.
Can I work from the park on other days?
Absolutely! Free WiFi is always available in the park. Come by anytime!
