Good Moves, Good Grooves

Good Moves, Good Grooves, is a three-day family-friendly community celebration of competition, sports and talent in Detroit that will get Metro Detroiters movin’ and groovin’ this summer. Presented by the William Davidson Foundation, the weekend celebration will take place August 11-13, along the Detroit Riverwalk at Cullen Plaza and Milliken State Park and Harbor in downtown Detroit. 

 GOOD MOVES, GOOD GROOVES EVENTS

  • Friday, August 11 from 6-10pm
    Motown Museum's "Rivertown Revue" from Hitsville Next and concert with R&B and funk legends The Commodores. Let us know you're coming and register here!
    Admission to the concert is free, first come, first served and tickets are not required at entry.
  • Saturday, August 12 from 10-4pm 
    3v3 in the D, a youth three on three basketball tournament in partnership with the Detroit Parks Coalition and the Pistons Neighbors Program. Click here to register your team!  
    Concert from 6-10pm Detroit local Kimmie Horn followed by national soul star Deniece Williams. Let us know you're coming and register here. 
    Admission to the concert is free, first come, first served and tickets are not required at entry.

    Detroit Sports Showcase and Fun Run - A sports sampling event featuring a family-friendly one mile fun run, street hockey, lacrosse, and more in partnership with Project Play:Southeast MichiganClick here to register

All events for Good Moves, Good Grooves are free and open to the public and free parking is provided at the River East Garage located at the corner of Rivard and Atwater Streets. Parking opens at 4:30PM on Friday, 9AM for 3v3 Basketball Tournament Particpants and 4:30 PM for the Kimmie Horne/Deniece Williams Concert. 

GOOD MOVES, GOOD GROOVES - FAQS

  • The following items are permitted into the event grounds 
  • Folding/collapsible lawn chairs
  • Bikes (please walk bikes or park them in the designated bike parking area)
  • Well mannered dogs on a leash less than 6 feet in length
  • One sealed water bottle per person. Refillable water bottles may be carried in empty and filled at the Cullen Plaza bottle filler.

The following items are NOT permitted into the event grounds

  • Outside food or beverages
  • Unsealed water bottles
  • Any weapons in violation of Michigan Carry laws.

All Bags are Subject to Search. Admission to the concert is free and tickets are not required. Free parking for attendees is available at the River East garage, located at 214 Rivard Street.
