Black History along Detroit’s Riverfront Virtual Tour

Detroit has a long and storied history and woven throughout that history are the stories of Black leaders and innovators, of Black heroes who saved lives and worked to make Detroit better and of organizations and small businesses that played integral roles in Detroit’s Black community. Join us as we travel throughout the decades and along the riverfront to learn about some of the historic people and places that helped shape Detroit and some that are having an impact today.

Highlights include:

- Brief overview of Detroit’s history and the development adjacent to the Riverfront

- Inspirational Historical Figures like Lisette Denison, Fanny Richards and William Lambert

- The Riverfront’s role in the Underground Railroad

- Music from Paradise Valley including John Lee Hooker & Aretha Franklin
