A privately-owned recreational boat struck the RiverWalk between GM Plaza and Cullen Plaza early this morning.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the marine railing was significantly damaged.  As a result, that portion of the RiverWalk will be closed until the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy can get the seawall inspected and an interim railing installed.  The Conservancy will move as quickly as possible to get that stretch of the RiverWalk reopened and repaired in as timely a manner as possible.

In the meantime, all other portions of the RiverWalk and the Dequindre Cut remain open for the public to enjoy from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
