GM River Days Returns This Weekend

For many Metro Detroiters, GM River Days presented by Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort is the unofficial kickoff to summer. Don’t miss the popular three-day festival this weekend, June 20-22.
This year’s national music acts include:
Friday, June 20 (BIKE NIGHT) - John Kay & Steppenwolf
Saturday, June 21 - Blackstreet featuring Teddy Riley & Dave Hollister and Guy featuring Aaron Hall & Damion Hall
Sunday, June 22 - Gospel showcase, Mary Mary and Keith Sweat
New this year are special VIP tickets for purchase that provide festival goers access to up-close seating options, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, restrooms and a cash bar.
Local musicians are well-represented at GM River Days as well. Stages featuring local artists will ensure there is enough rock, pop, blues, indie rock, alternative, country and funk for everyone to groove to this weekend.
Other GM River Days highlights include a free Kids Zone provided by Flagstar Bank that features story time, magic and puppet shows, as well as face and hand painting and recyclable crafts, the Coast Guard Auxilary 75th anniversary celebration, a midway with rides and games, tours of a Tall Ship, food from local vendors, riverfront boat tours, strolling buskers, jet ski acrobatics and the third annual Detroit River ArtScape urban art competition.
The event kicks off Friday at 11 a.m. and spans from the William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor to the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority Terminal & Dock, just past the Renaissance Center. Festival hours are 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Sunday. The Conservancy charges a $3 admission fee (and $5 after 5 p.m.) to help underwrite programming and operational costs for the festival. Admission to the festival is free before 5 p.m. on Friday,
