What is the fundraiser in support of?
Our community has embraced parks this year in ways that we have never seen before. Thousands of visitors have come to the Detroit Riverfront and Dequindre Cut to get out of the house, get into nature, and refresh their minds and bodies. However, our need for financial support has only grown as we have seen a 40% increase in attendance along the Dequindre Cut and 20% over the whole RiverWalk in 2020.
This fundraiser is a celebration of the important role the Detroit Riverfront plays in our lives, designed to provide new and special ways our community can experience their riverfront, all while #BeingApartTogether. #BeingApartTogether allows the RiverWalk and associated green spaces to remain clean, safe, and accessible. With your contribution, you ensure programs like Reading and Rhythm on the Riverfront, moonlight yoga, and zumba live on and evolve.

Who is performing during the Virtual Concert?
The Virtual Concert is available on the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy’s Facebook and YouTube featuring performances from Detroit's own Juuni, Sean Blackman's In Transit featuring James Wallin and Lisa Montes, Al Bettis, and New World Soul.
In transit: In Transit is a collaborative platform created by Sean Blackman where performers from around the world come together to create and produce original music concerts, recordings and educational lectures on world music. Dedicated to creating the highest quality, most entertaining, educational and enlightening experiences with the goal of expanding the viewer’s knowledge and interest in international music and culture.
New World Soul: New World Soul is a group of dynamic musicians, seen in some of Detroit's top music venues - DUO Restaurant & Lounge, The SoundBoard Theatre, Baker's Keyboard Lounge, the Jazz Cafe' at Music Hall, Floods in Greektown, and The Sweet Bistro.
Al Bettis: Al Bettis was inspired to start writing and singing music at age 30. He felt a spiritual calling to heal the world through music, so he picked up a guitar and a notepad and got to work. The self-trained acoustic guitarist has gained popularity for his smooth vocals and sincere lyrics. His shows are a journey through love, heartbreak and redemption as he offers stories about the musings behind many of his songs. His soothing voice is reminiscent of legends like Al Green and Otis Redding, with musical influence from artists such as Ed Sheeran and Jason Mraz.
Juuni: Juuni (Joo-Nee) is the rhythmist based in Detroit, MI who uses analog and digital instruments to create. His sonic identity was formed by the Junkanoo celebrations of his ancestors. The US State Department, Knight Foundation, Art Prize, & i-D have recognized Juuni for his craft. Juuni is a founder of D.Cipher, Detroit’s Music Mastermind Collective. Since 2015 they've earned a variety of experiences including live broadcast television (Art Prize ’16 & ’17); Recorded television (MSNBC, The Profit); Festivals (SXSW '17 & ’18) and has shared stages with Erykah Badu, Gregory Porter, and Masego.
