East Riverfront RFQ Presentations - Open to the public

The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and the City of Detroit Planning Department are inviting the public to help shape the future of the East Riverfront District. 

Seven teams comprised of some of the nation’s leading design firms and development experts will compete to plan the future of Detroit’s East Riverfront District. Presentations of their qualifications and design philosophy will take place over two days and is open to the public.

The presentations will take place on Tuesday, January 26 between 9 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. and January 27 from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the Outdoor Adventure Center, which is located at 1801 Atwater in downtown Detroit.

The interviews have been divided into three time blocks which include;

Morning - January 26th, 2016

  • Balmori Associates in collaboration with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Atelier 10, HR&A Advisors, Giffels Webster, Hamilton-Anderson Associates (9:00AM-10:15AM)
  • BJH Advisors in collaboration with FXFOWLE, Sam Schwartz Engineering, Hargreaves Associates (10:30AM-11:45AM)

Afternoon - January 26th, 2016

  • STOSS Landscape Urbanism in collaboration with Studio Gang, Hamilton-Anderson Associates, James Lima Planning + Development, Ninigret Partners, Elnora Austell & Associates, LimnoTech, Sam Schwartz Engineering, Somat Engineering, Applied Ecological Systems (1:00PM-2:15PM)
  • Partnership for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) in collaboration with Hood Studio, HR&A Advisors, Giffels Webster (2:30PM-3:45PM)
  • Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) in collaboration with MDP-IHA, Mohsen Mostafavi; Harvard GSD, McIntosh Poris, HR&A Advisors, Develop Detroit (4:00PM-5:15PM)

Morning - January 27th, 2016

  • Gensler in collaboration with The Office of James Burnett, BuroHappold, HR&A Advisors, Giffels Webster (8:30AM-9:45AM)
  • Utile in collaboration with HR&A, City Form Detroit, Made Studio LLC, Nelson Nygaard (10:00AM-11:15AM)

On October 14th, join the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Bon Bon Bon & GM RenCen for the World's Longest Box of Chocolate on the Detroit riverfront! This awesome fundraiser features the WORLD'S LONGEST BOX Of CHOCOLATE crafted by fabulous local chocolatier Bon Bon Bon. Guests will have a chance to mingle, see the box which will be 313 feet, taste Detroit-themed chocolates and grab a great drink all right on Detroit's beautiful riverfront in the GM WinterGarden.

 Tickets available at the door tonight!

Tickets are just $20 and include the following:

  • Admission to this unique event
  • Detroit-themed Bon Bon Bon's to enjoy on site and to take home

The much-anticipated Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Riverfront Run/Walk will be held on June 11, 2016,  this 5K & 10K run and walk will showcase the Detroit RiverWalk and Milliken State Park, and provide a healthy, fun experience for participants. Proceeds benefit the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, the stewards of Detroit’s historic and international RiverWalk and Dequindre Cut Greenway.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Riverfront Run/Walk includes both a 5K and a 10K run/walk. All participants will receive a performance T-shirt, commemorative medals and a one-day admission pass to the Conservancy’s upcoming Detroit River Days festival.  Early Bird Registration for the 5K run/walk is $30 per participant.  The 10K is $40 per person. (if registered by 5/11/16). Registration will increase to $35 for the 5K and $45 for the 10K after 5/11/16)

Start Time: 9am - 10K 9:20am - 5K 

Parking: Free parking will be available to all race participants at River East Garage, located at 1000 Franklin St, Detroit, MI 48207. Cars must be removed from the garage by 12PM.

Packet Pick up: Pre-registered participants can visit the RUNDetroit store on June 9th between 12-7PM for packet pick up. RUNDetroit is located at 441 West Canfield St #5. Detroit, MI 48201.

 Or  pre-registered participants can receive their race packet which includes a commemorative performance tech t-shirt on race day between 7AM-8:50AM.  T-Shirts for those that register on race day are subject to availability, and may need to be picked up later at the Parade Company.

  • Warm up with Bonfires & S’mores provided by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy*
  • Sled on the hill in Milliken State Park**
