Orleans Landing

Work at the Orleans Landing site continues at a steady pace, with notable visual construction progress made daily.  Right now, tradespeople are completing roof systems and installing windows in newly erected buildings.  Placement of interior flooring, wall framing and drywall installation is ongoing at all other buildings.  Paint and finishes are soon to follow. Over the next few weeks, masons will continue placement of exterior brick and work towards completing the retail space.

Completion of the $65M Phase One project, which will feature 278 residential units and space for retail, is slated for the end of this year.

Chene Park/Stroh River Place Connection

Plans are moving forward to build a pedestrian bridge over the boat slips that were formerly used by the U.S. Coast Guard, which will connect Chene Park East to the Stroh River Place property.  The project is set to begin this fall.

In addition to the pedestrian bridge, the project includes installation of the same amenities that can be found elsewhere along the riverfront, such as stainless steel benches, new lighting, security cameras and colorful landscaping.  Enhancements will make the area more aesthetically pleasing and provide access to a portion of the RiverWalk that was never before open to the public.

All work is scheduled to be complete by fall 2017.

Campbell Memorial Terrace

Construction of the David Campbell Memorial Terrace being built along the Dequindre Cut in honor of the Conservancy’s former Board member continues at a swift pace.  Currently, crews are putting the finishing touches on restoring the concrete wall that was once used to support a bridge over the railway.   A concrete header has been installed at the top of the wall, and will be used to anchor the canopy that hangs above the performance area.  Utility companies are working on the relocation of gas and electric lines.  When all underground relocations are complete, the foundations for the seat walls and steps will be placed.

Construction of the Campbell Memorial Terrace is scheduled for completion in September.  Plans for a grand opening celebration are currently underway.
