The ultimate vision for the Detroit International Riverfront is 5 ½ miles of open Riverfront from the Ambassador Bridge to Gabriel Richard Park, just east of the Belle Isle Bridge.
The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy's first phase of work has been focused on the East Riverfront - 3 ½ miles from Joe Louis Arena to Gabriel Richard Park. While the focus continues on completing the East Riverfront, the Conservancy is also working towards the West.
In December 2007, the Conservancy announced its purchase of 26 acres on the West Riverfront at the site of the former Detroit Free Press printing plant and the organization continues to work with key stakeholders including the City of Detroit towards a strategic plan for revitalizing the West Riverfront.
Stay tuned for more progress on the West in the future.
