November 5, 2015 [DETROIT] - The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and the City of Detroit Planning Department are seeking proposals from qualified firms to develop a framework plan for the East Riverfront.  The plan will help to provide a vision for investment and development throughout the East Riverfront district.

The boundaries of the East Riverfront district are St. Antoine Street to the west, East Grand Boulevard to the east, Larned Street to the north and the Detroit River to the south.

Over the past 10 years, the East Riverfront has been transformed from a blighted, industrial area into one of the City of Detroit’s most exciting, emerging neighborhoods.  The relocation of the cement factories, the redevelopment of the GM Renaissance Center and the construction of the 3.5 mile RiverWalk have stimulated significant reinvestment in the area.  An economic survey the Conservancy commissioned a few years ago found that $1 billion in public and private investment has occurred since the riverfront transformation began 12 years ago.

The framework plan will begin with a robust period in which the community will be involved in the planning process.  The Conservancy has a strong track record of community engagement and was one of the first organizations in the city to engage the community in design.  RFQ responses are due on December 4, 2015 at 5:00 PM ET.
