Construction Project: DNR Adventure Center
Significant indoor work continued this winter at the DNR’s Outdoor Adventure Center in anticipation of a summer grand opening. As of mid-March, more than one-third of interior work has been completed.
A recent walk-through by Conservancy staff revealed that the abundant rock formations located throughout the building are now complete and a realistic waterfall and Michigan forest are in place. Taxidermy examples of the state’s diverse wildlife—including a deer, black bear, coyote, birds of prey and assorted waterfowl are positioned throughout the facility.
Other highlights will include a real forest fire spotter plane, an underground Michigan mine, children’s camping area, northern Michigan pond and an interactive beaver dam.
