Holding an Event on the Riverfront
Thank you for your interest in hosting an event along the beautiful Detroit riverfront. Private events including Weddings, Birthday Parties and etc, that are not open to the public in any capacity are not allowed on the Detroit RiverFront.
The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy is a non-profit organization that relies on public-private funding to operate and maintain the RiverWalk and its associated green spaces (“Conservancy Grounds”). All events are subject to approval by the Conservancy. Upon approval, a deposit, the certificate of insurance and hold harmless agreement are required (see attached) in order to secure your date.
Applications must be submitted between January 1 and November 1 the year before the event will be held. Applications can be found on this website and must include all relevant details, such as preferred date, alternate dates, location, number of attendees, etc.
Individuals submitting applications will be notified in December if the event is approved or denied. This policy allows the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy to plan its annual calendar prior to the start of the New Year. To be fair to all organizations interested in hosting an event along the riverfront, the Conservancy does not accept multiple-year applications. Please note that the month of June and the first two weeks of September have been reserved for Conservancy-hosted events and programming.
For requests that also utilize Milliken State Park, a separate application form must be filled out.
We look forward to working with you and hosting your event along the Detroit riverfront.
Download the application here.
Weddings and other private events are not permitted on the Detroit RiverWalk.
For more information about hosting an event, please contact our Operations team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Starting a club or group on the riverfront
The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy is committed to presenting an active and engaging riverfront and Dequindre Cut to the public. As part of this commitment, the Conservancy is proud to present a full calendar of events - both large and small - for you to enjoy.
If you are interested in starting a club or group along the riverfront, or would like more information about programming opportunities, please send a detailed proposal to email@example.com. Our programming schedule is set in the fall of the year before an event or program will be held and all requests for next year will be evaluated in late fall.
