On Thursday, September 10, The Blue Pigs will be making an encore performance at Rivard Plaza on the Detroit RiverWalk at 12 noon.  

The Blue Pigs are a group of 5 Detroit Police Officers (assigned to Police Community Services) that use music to help promote a better relationship between the police department and the community. The Blue Pigs use music to get the attention of their audience and discuss various aspects of crime prevention and making positive life choices.

The Blue Pigs are always promoting education. The group makes daily appearances on behalf of the Detroit Police Department to schools in the city of Detroit and the surrounding areas. The Blue Pigs also perform before senior citizen groups and many types of other organized events. The group has appeared on both television and radio and traveled to 16 of the United States and Canada in their 39 years of existence.

The Blue Pigs currently consist of Police Officer Charles Henley, who plays lead guitar and also does vocals. Officer Henley joined the department in 1969 and was originally assigned to the 12th Precinct. He became a member of The Blue Pigs in December of 1970 and is one of the original 5 to start the group.

Police Officer Senora Lee is the lead vocalist of the group. Officer Lee joined the department in 1986
and was originally assigned to the 3rd precinct. She became a member of The Blue Pigs in March of 1996.

Police Officer Robert Joiner plays bass and also does vocals. Officer Joiner joined the department in 1987 and was originally assigned to the 3rd Precinct. He became a member of The Blue Pigs in March of 1996.

Police Officer Alonzo Tolefree plays the keyboards. Officer Tolefree joined the department in 1999 and was originally assigned to the 5th Precinct. He became a member of The Blue Pigs in August of 2003.

Police Officer Richard Little plays the drums. Officer Little joined the department in 2000 and was originally assigned to the 7th Precinct. He became a member of The Blue Pigs in November of 2003.
