Educated in the Detroit Public School System, Beverly J. Watts earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from Michigan State University.
Ms. Watts began her career at EDS Corporation working as public relations representative with GM-Chevrolet, following which she was a provisional appointee in the Data Processing Department at the City of Detroit under the late Mayor Coleman Young. Ms. Watts spent several years at the Cobo Conference Center and MGM Grand Casino before being appointed as the Assistant Director of the Wayne County Parks Division. In 2004 she was promoted to Director.
She is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) and National Association of Professional Women (NAPW). Additionally, Ms. Watts serves as an Executive Board Member of the Harbor Town Condominium Association and is a member of the Friends of Wayne County Parks, the Detroit City Council Recreation Task Force, Michigan Recreation Parks Association, Friends of Nankin Mills, and the NAACP.
